Principal Jennifer Turner

This year begins my seventh year at Sunderland Elementary and there is nowhere I would rather be. Our students are filled with curiosity and have an enthusiasm for life that is contagious. The staff are committed to meeting the needs of every student and work tirelessly to make sure that happens. The families partner with us and support their children and our school. Everyday I am grateful to be a part of this community.

I have been in education for twenty-eight years. I spent the majority of that time teaching kindergarten. I loved being the one to introduce students to the school setting. It was so rewarding to see them grow and learn so much. I also loved math and that led me to a role coaching teachers in math instruction. It was exciting to work with teachers in all of our schools in the supervisory union. During that time though, I worked closely with principals and decided I would like to pursue administration. Here I am and Sunderland has been the perfect place to learn the role of principal.

On a personal note, my husband Brian and I live in Shaftsbury with our puppy Willow. Our son Cameron is a police officer and lives in Putney. Our daughter Neely is at Coastal Carolina University for her first year of college. I enjoy spending time with my family camping and boating. I also love to read and recently I learned to crochet a little.
