The Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union (BRSU) is excited to announce that registration for JISP is officially open for the upcoming winter season.

JISP (Junior Instructional Ski Program) is a cornerstone of the community partnership between local schools and winter sports organizations like the Bromley Outing Club, Bromley Mountain, Vermont Adaptive Sports Program (formerly Bart Adaptive Sport Program), Riley Rink Skating Program along well as programs offered by GNAT-TV, Hildene, Manchester Community Library, Merck Forest and Farmland, Southern Vermont Arts Center, and Wild Wings Cross Country Ski center. The program provides students with invaluable opportunities to learn to ski, snowboard, cross-country ski, ice skate, and participate in arts and nature activities as an integrated part of their school day.

Participation in JISP encourages healthy outdoor activity, builds confidence, and fosters a lifelong appreciation for winter sports and local resources.

Families are strongly encouraged to register promptly to secure a spot for their child(ren).

For full program details, registration forms, scholarship information, and deadlines, please visit the official BRSU JISP page: https://www.brsu.org/page/jisp

Dear BRSU Community,

Last Thursday night several school board members virtually attended the Vermont Redistricting Task Force public forum at Leland and Gray High School. We were overwhelmed by the sea of support for our structure. We heard time and again, folks step up and speak about why their education system is important to their families and their communities, and that BRSU is the thread that is holding that together.

We want to say thank you to all of you who are standing at the meetings, writing letters, and working in our communities to help build support for maintaining the structure that currently exists. While we await the final maps the task force will present to legislators in December, please know that we are working behind the scenes to stay informed, communicate, and strategize ways to keep our entire structure intact. This includes maintaining and building high quality elementary and middle school educational opportunities and ensuring access to the independent schools that educate our students everyday. Your support helps us feel confident that the work we are doing is important and valued. We strongly believe that “all our kids are all of our kids,” and we will stay vigilant in our efforts to ensure the legislature grants us the space to continue to provide excellent educational opportunities for all of our students.

Respectfully,
Melanie Virgilio, Taconic and Green Regional School Board Chair
Dr. Randi Lowe, Superintendent of the Taconic and Green Regional School

Downloading the BRSU mobile app is an easy way to stay connected and informed about what’s happening across our schools. The app provides quick access to important updates, event calendars, lunch menus, and notifications, all in one place. It also consolidates communication from school websites and newsletters into a single, convenient hub, making it easier than ever for families and staff to stay organized and connected. Beginning in September, our schools will add two-way messaging through Thrillshare Rooms, giving families and teachers a simple and direct way to communicate.
